Byousoku 5 centimeter, 5 centimeters per second. Touching anime movie, as the genre is slice of life, it really is. Story line, A tale of two people, Tono Takaki and Shinohara Akari, they were close friends since young. This story was plotted around 1990s. So there weren't any phone or email to contact each other, simply, just by letter. 5 centimeters per second, is the falling of cherry blossoms during autumn season in Tokyo. After that day, when they last met, 6 months later, Akari sent Tanaki letters, and after some time, they decided to meet up. The reason why they are separated is because of their families. Tanaki was very late to meet her, although he knew she'd be gone by then, he still went there... Astonished, Akari was waiting for him. Akari cried and they sat down to munch on supper. On the way back to Akari's home as the train service had ceased, they reminisce of the past, and kissed under a cherry tree. The next morning came, and they left each other... again. As years pass, they communicate, lesser and lesser. Tanaki's life have been real simple... and mundane. He always typed messages, but have no recipient to send to... As they grow up, Akari had a husband, while Tanaki's life, is still as always. Once, they walked pass each other, at the same railway track, as they turned around to look at each other, the train sped pass their vision at each other, when the trains are gone, Tanaki was not there, anymore.
